The unincorporated hill above the south side of the Puyallup valley, largely suburban, where the address says Puyallup but there is no city hall of its own.
The Where row is the one people ask about. South Hill is a census-designated place, not a city. It lies in unincorporated Pierce County directly south of Puyallup, and its addresses use Puyallup as the postal city, which is why nobody is quite sure what to call it. Give us the street and it makes no difference.
The Houses and Fuel rows go together. Most of the hill is suburban housing, so the Viking in a South Hill kitchen is often the one fitted when the house was new, running on whatever the builder chose.
Reading its model is quick on a 7 Series range: the rating label sits under the control panel, where you can see it with the oven door open. That is what the Have ready row is asking for.
Self-clean on a dual-fuel Viking
On the 7 Series, self-clean belongs to the dual-fuel models, and Viking’s manual sets out the preparation. Take out the racks and anything else inside. Wipe up large spills. By hand, clean what the cycle cannot: the door up to its gasket, the door frame, and about two inches inside the frame. Oven cleaner never goes into a self-cleaning oven.
Close the door fully before you start. The latch should engage within about thirty seconds. When the cycle refuses to begin, the manual gives two reasons: a door not shut tightly enough for the latch, or a temperature knob not turned all the way to the clean stop. A full cycle lasts roughly three and a half hours, and the door stays locked for about another half hour while the oven cools. A locked door during that time is normal.
South Hill calls reach Viking Repair Tacoma on (206) 472-1140, and the $89 comes off the repair you approve.

Oven read 350 and nothing browned. He clipped a probe to the middle rack and showed me it was sitting forty degrees under, then fitted a new sensor. Roasts behave again.

Simmer flame kept dropping out on the smallest burner. The orifice was half blocked with grease, cleaned and re-seated. Two visits because the first slot ran late, but it holds a low flame now.
Deborah K. North End
The latch would not hold and the door popped open mid-cycle. He showed me the worn catch and a bent striker plate, replaced the latch assembly and straightened the plate. Shuts with one push now.
