Suds, a seal, or a door out of line
Row one first, because it costs nothing. Suds build in the tub until they are forced past the seal at the bottom of the door. Viking’s manuals trace foam to three places: plates scrubbed with dish soap and loaded without a rinse, since hand-wash detergents contain no antifoam; a top-up of rinse aid that splashed inside; and the rinse-aid lid left open. Pre-washing is not needed at all, the manual adds, only scraping off the heavy soil.
The second line is the door. The gasket gathers grease and crumbs, and a blade left where the door closes on it can nick it, which is why Viking’s loading notes keep sharp things away from the seal. Then level: the installer is meant to leave the machine square and level. In older Tacoma houses floors have had decades to move, and a dishwasher that sat true when it went in can now tip toward you. Setting the feet again belongs to the visit.
Row three is the one to take seriously. Water under the machine with a dry door edge comes from inside the base: a split hose or a weeping pump. Viking’s manual says the supply line loses its flexibility over the years and should be changed as soon as it is cut, swollen or leaking. - Stand back and compare the top of the door with the counter edge. A lean toward you or to one side is worth mentioning when you call.
